Frederic Loraschi is an award-winning chocolatier who has garnered awards at the highest level of competition for chocolate artisans throughout the world.
Born in Toulouse, France, Loraschi . learned from some of the greatest chefs in Europe. and was selected to compete in the World Chocolate Masters, one of the most elite competitions in the world for chocolate innovators.
Loraschi won the "Best Tasting” award at the U.S. Selection for the World Chocolate Masters in 2010 and “Top 10 Best Chocolatiers” in North America by Dessert Professional magazine in 2011.
Loraschi was executive pastry chef at at the Ritz-Carlton hotels in Boston, Dana Point, California and the Hotel Hershey in Pennsylvania.
He studied at the Lycee Hotelier Quercy-Perigord in Souillac, France, and has also been featured on the Food Network’s “Unwrapped”. Loraschi first started making chocolate in the basement of his Hummelstown, PA. home and later opened Frederic Loraschi Chocolate. The 5,000 square foot facility opened in 2015 in Harrisburg, the capital of Pennsylvania.
Since 2005, Frederic Loraschi has been creating superb chocolate using single origin chocolate from around the world. He was one of the first chocolatiers to have created the trend of hand painted chocolate bonbons. His single origin chocolate bars are available in both dark and milk chocolate.
Loraschi supplies handcrafted chocolate confections to world class hotels, fine dining restaurants, high end catering companies and other luxury venues across throughout the United States and produces approximately 7 tons of chocolates and a ton of macarons every year. Pretty inspired for a guy who came to America in 1999 and didn't know a word of English! I had the pleasure of meeting Chef Loraschi 2 years ago when I went to the Shoppes at Susquehanna Marketplace to support Plum Bottom, one of our small business partners, who was part of the Chocolate Walk they were hosting. Loraschi was there sampling and offering his chocolate works of art for purchase for the holidays. ( Or in my case, for personal consumption )
At this writing, during our stay at home order for Covid-19, Loraschi Is currently offering gourmet chocolate cake that can be picked up or delivered locally from 4 pm - 6 pm
There are three kinds to choose from.
Cloud: a modern cheesecake, cream cheese mousse, blackberry and black currant cream, almond sponge, graham cracker crumble.⠀
Dark: the combination of caramelized bananas, dark chocolate and dark rum.⠀
Frivolity: Milk and dark chocolate mousse, almond chocolate sponge, this cake is for true chocolate connoisseurs.⠀
Every chocolate in his signature 16 piece assorted box has such a distinctive flavor. The delicate coating perfectly allows the decadent flavor shine through. I first sampled and fell in love with the 'Dark' which includes dark rum and macerated raisins.
Loraschi lives in the Harrisburg area with Wife Diana and their two boys , Julian and Luca. He recognized yet another achievement in realizing and building the American dream by becoming a US Citizen September 15, 2015.
