Frequently Asked Questions
Question: Why are your rates so affordable?
Answer: I've operated for a decade by myself so I could pass the savings on to small business owners instead of building an expensive corporate structure.
Question: What kind of online traffic does your website get?
Answer: I'm a huge believer in real-world results over vanity metrics often found in the industry. see question #4 on why we don't host contests.
As a snapshot of our reach, data from October 26th, 2024 alone shows visitors from 362 states, regions and countries and 2,437 different cities have visited our website.
* See the graphic at the bottom of the page. This comes directly from my website which is why it's not a pie chart or bar graph. These numbers and cities continue to grow as we expand nationally and distribute more and more media. As an example, we work with 100+ apartments communities in Tampa Bay alone that place our media in welcome folders. That means unlike digital only, we control, in large part, who sees your business and are not waiting for someone to discover it.
As a side note, this is also why I don't write blogs multiple times a day to create what looks like intentional traffic but is not. Most folks read a blog and leave. Our website is clean so I'm certain our organic visitors are there to find suggestions on small businesses.
Question: Why is our distribution set up the way it is?
Answer: Starting in 2016, I've intentionally built my distribution model to maximize your exposure. Ensuring your business is always in front of new, engaged customers is what helps grow your business.
* I never mail our media and have never used automated annual subscriptions. This business model would only reach the same, static list of people over and over again whether in the same neighborhood or town.
Instead, our directory is designed as collectible art supporting a local artist and distributed as a thoughtful gift through realtors, HOA communities, Apartment communities, bed and breakfasts and short-term rentals.
While you may occasionally find our guides on retail counters, at attractions or coffee shops, 90% of our media is handed directly to customers by someone the customer is already doing business with - our trusted partners.
This quality over quantity approach means your business are placed in the hands of our main target market which is new movers/new residents and travelers looking for local recommendations, which provides much higher value than being seen by the exact same people all the time.
Question: Why don't you host contests?
Answer: I reject vanity advertising and popularity contests for several important reasons. Contests of any type generate artificially inflated traffic from voters who vote for friends, family, colleagues etc. and then leave. I prioritize genuine, intentional engagement over hollow clicks.
It's also disingenuous to ask loyal advertisers/business owners to take a backseat to businesses that don't support the platform. I support businesses who support and believe in my business with paid partnerships by making sure the spotlight remains on them and only them.
Question: How do I get my business listed? Do I have to sign a contract
Answer: No restrictive contracts! To get started simply reach out to me via text or phone (717) 364-8469, email: chrisliveworkplay@gmail.com or send a me a message through my website. I prefer building a business relationship personally and answering questions rather than automated forms.
Once connected, I'll send you a detailed invoice from Square that clearly outlines exactly what your one year advertising package includes.
* Nothing is greater than $260 annually.
After payment, all I need from you is one high-quality image of your choice and 3-5 categories where you'd like your business to appear if website visitors choose the "search categories' option.
That's it! Your business will be live in your neighborhood, city, state and across America. I can easily update your image or other information if needs change throughout the year.
Question: What Types of small businesses do you work with?
Answer: I partner with essential businesses that make a community thrive, local, small retailers like boutiques and toy stores, independent restaurants and non profits like museums and unique attractions as well as trusted professional services.
Whether a local staple or new small business, my directory is designed to help connect you with people who value shopping and supporting small businesess.
Question: What is the National Small Business Directory?
Answer: Our National Small Business Directory is a digital platform that connects shoppers with local businesses they can support online or in person. By expanding our regional guide model like those in Tampa Bay, Florida and Pennsylvania to a national scale, I am able to provide small business owners with highly affordable, effective advertising.
Because every directory/listing is digitally connected, the directory acts as a seamless resource for travelers, new and current residents to discover trusted small businesses like shopping, dining, things to do and professional services no matter where they are or where they're going.
Question: How does being in this directory improve my SEO?
Answer: Having a backlink to your business in a authoritative directory, you increase your businesses digital visibility and improve overall search ranking.
Question: How do dynamic, live listings work compared to a traditional static directory or publications turned into digital flip books?
Answer: unlike old-fashioned flip books, these listings are live and dynamic, meaning your information is always current and can be updated instantly as your business needs change.
Question: What is a collectable discover small business art card and how is is distributed?
Answer: We collaborate with artists across the United States. Their art becomes the front of our 4x6 (postcard size and weight) media given to homeowners by realtors and HOA communities, given to new residents in welcome folders by their apartment community, businesses to their customers and available for travelers across the country in their Bed & Breakfast or short-term rental in their area.
The back of the collectible art piece has a QR code going to the artists website as a thank you for the use of their art and a QR code leading to either our Tampa Bay Guide, National Small Business Directory or our Ultimate Guide to Small Business in Pennsylvania.
Travelers and movers could potentially collect many pieces of art and learn about the artist who created it.
Question: What makes your living directories different from platforms like Yelp?
Answer: I prioritize partnerships and community engagement over automated, impersonal advertising, ensuring every part of our small business family is backed by genuine local trust.
Question: Is this a franchise?
Answer: No, this is not a franchise. I am the sole founder and owner, and built this business from the ground up over the last decade. I hear this question often as people are confused when they see the word "owner" but are a franchised model where one might pay a fee and sign a contract to be an owner under a corporate umbrella for a previously established business.
You'll find more of these analytics on my personal Facebook page Christine Vasiliades where I post regularly for our Live Work Play family of advertisers to be updated as to who is visiting my website.
