Why/How did you start your business?
I started my business at the kitchen table learning to do acrylic nails. About 25 years ago I challenged myself to do my own nails and started practicing on friends and family. I slowly grew my business and added new clients until I was so busy I had to find a place to expand. My husband and I purchased a house at 221 Chambersburg Street, Gettysburg and renovated it into a nail and hair salon. In 2010, we added spa services. By 2014, we expanded again into our current building at 730 Chambersburg Road.
What makes your business unique?
We are the area's only full-service hair salon and day spa. Our location along historic Willoughby Run and the long-ago site of Katalysine Springs, a natural healing spring, make us unique in addition to the character of the building itself. We are located in the former Gettysburg Country Club where former President Dwight D. Eisenhower once played golf. Our mission is to provide our guests with the highest level of customer service in a pleasant, comfortable, and professional atmosphere.
How do you define success?
Success for me means doing my best to make a great place for people to work, where they can feel safe, grow their business and create a comfortable lifestyle for themselves. It also means having a welcoming place for our guests to relax and know that they are receiving quality services. What motivates you?
I am motivated by always trying to improve. If you’re not growing, you are dying.
What products/services do you offer and or what market does your company serve?
We offer excellent salon and spa services including hair color, highlights, haircutting, manicures, pedicures, facials, body treatments such as scrubs and wraps, and massage in addition to wedding services.
